Why Helmast Park?

Helmast Park is named in honour of David Greaves, a Victorian jockey and later builder and dairy farmer.

As a teenage jockey, David rode a number of winners, and one of his best winning mounts was Helmast, a bay thoroughbred.

David inspired his grandchildren with his love of horses, which lives on in Helmast Park. David passed away in 2009.
